18 New Komatsu Forklifts Deliver Superior Product Handling and Safety at AirRoad

AirRoad has added 18 brand new Komatsu forklifts to its Sydney fleet to improve freight handling practices and eliminate product damage.

All the new forklifts feature a full Fleet Management System with online reporting, impact monitoring & electronic pre start checklists as standard. This means that operations managers on the ground are able to access information about travel hours, load frequency, fuel use, dashboard cautions and other critical factors, providing them with a total fleet management solution at any time.

AirRoad’s Managing Director, Malcolm Thorpe, believes that the new forklifts will help improve freight handling and the overall service that the company provides. “Having been in business for over twenty-five years, we’ve built our reputation by being a leader in transporting time-critical, high-value and sensitive goods. We continue to invest in the latest freight handling technology to ensure that we meet our commitment to deliver in full, on time and undamaged for our clients. The technology on these forklifts will help us load our trucks efficiently, while also reducing handling mishaps and enhancing driver comfort and safety. This is a plus for our people, our clients and the goods that we carry.”

Fitted with travel speed limiters, the forklifts help ensure safe work by reducing speeds in confined spaces and keeping them well within the depot’s required speed limits. Design considerations also enable superior visibility for the operator and safe travel when reversing.

Owen Woodgate, AirRoad’s National Linehaul and Fleet Manager believes that the new technology will be instrumental in fostering a safe work environment. He says, “By monitoring our handling equipment, we are able to correct any mistakes or negative driving behaviour. These forklifts will empower our staff and provide them with the best technology available to deliver a reliable and quality service to our clients.”

Special thanks to Glenn Taylor & the Wollongong & Sydney Branches for ensuring all forklifts were prepared, pre-delivered & delivered on time.
